Speechie's Corner | iPads and Speech Pathology | Educational Speech Pathology

  • 0:03 - 0:08
We just recently bought an iPad for our practice. so we have been using lots of
  • 0:08 - 0:13
different speech and language applications on the iPad
  • 0:13 - 0:16
uh... and these boys in the special needs unit ...
  • 0:16 - 0:19
We were just really working on
  • 0:19 - 0:23
    getting him to communicate, engage
  • 0:23 - 0:27
and initiate conversation with me, and talking about one thing together.
  • 0:27 - 0:31
And we were really had a lot of trouble doing that
  • 0:31 - 0:34
for about...we were trying to do that about least thirty minutes every week and
  • 0:34 - 0:38
he just had a lot of behavior issues and sensory issues.
  • 0:38 - 0:42
He seems fine on the iPad though. He now knows my name ... is excited when he sees me,
  • 0:42 - 0:48
and really wants to be involved in using the iPad and with the iPad
  • 0:48 - 0:54
we have been able to record his language use and his words and his sentences he's making
  • 0:54 - 0:58
and that he often runs into the class and shows his teacher.
  • 0:58 - 1:02
Now he's motivated to learn which has been a really great experience.
