-
0:06 - 0:09Word, in particular Microsoft Word 2010 which was released in December 2011.
-
0:09 - 0:13This is one of a series of tutorials on the Save as DAISY Add-In for Word and in this
-
0:13 - 0:20tutorial we’ll be focussing on downloading and installing the Save as DAISY Add-In.
-
0:20 - 0:24If you’re new to the Save as DAISY Add In for Word then it’s essentially a way of
-
0:24 - 0:31translating a structured Word document and translating or converting text into an audio
-
0:31 - 0:36format which allows a user to navigate around the document, this is sometimes referred to
-
0:36 - 0:41as a digital talking book. You can find out more about digital talking
-
0:41 - 0:49books by visiting the DAISY Consortium, www.DAISY.org And as you can see here there is a range of
-
0:49 - 0:54information about DAISY, talking books, standards and much more.
-
0:54 - 0:59So now to get started - if you don’t have the Save As DAISY Add In in Word there’s
-
0:59 - 1:05a good chance that it your 2010 Word document will look something like this one here. As
-
1:05 - 1:10we tab thought the various menus on Word’s Ribbon there is currently only the default
-
1:10 - 1:17tabs available. Once we’ve downloaded and installed the Save As DAISY Add In you’ll
-
1:17 - 1:22see that an additional ‘Accessibility’ tab has been installed.
-
1:22 - 1:27The easiest way to get the Save As DAISY Add In is from the DAISY Consortium site – there
-
1:27 - 1:42are link on the left hand side menu which take you directly to the download.
-
1:42 - 1:47So when the page appears in the browser it should be identical to this one here. There
-
1:47 - 1:51is some information about the Save As DAISY Add In you can see on the menu here on the
-
1:51 - 2:07left hand side and on the page here there are links to the download. Now if you are
-
2:07 - 2:13not sure which version of Office you have on your computer system, to find out please
-
2:13 - 2:22go up to File Menu then down to Help, and then if you look over to the right hand side
-
2:22 - 2:37you see the Office Version there. On this computer here it's the 32-bit version. I’m
-
2:37 - 2:44using the Internet Explorer browser, Version 9 here but it’s a similar process for other
-
2:44 - 2:45browsers.
-
2:45 - 2:52Okay, so I’m going to choose ‘Run’ and let the process run everything automatically.
-
2:52 - 3:26I’ll just let you briefly see the download
-
3:26 - 3:43and install process. When the Save As DAISY Add in has installed
-
3:43 - 3:49it automatically launches Word 2010 and open up a document with some useful information
-
3:49 - 3:54on where you can download the Add-In as well as some getting started guidance.
-
3:54 - 3:59It’s also worth pointing out that if you look at the Windows start menu you’ll find
-
3:59 - 4:07an additional DAISY Translator menu item where you’ll find an Accessibility Demofile, and
-
4:07 - 4:15Instruction Manual and the Getting Started document.
-
4:15 - 4:20Now if you open Microsoft Word, and tab through the menu items and find that the Add in hasn’t
-
4:20 - 4:31appeared, similar to my one, then you’ll need to follow these additional steps.
-
4:31 - 4:40In Word go to File, then to Options, and when the Options panel opens, select the Add Ins
-
4:40 - 4:53item. This lists all the Add Ins in Word. Now it’s just a case of selecting the DAISY
-
4:53 - 5:05Add in from the list and in the Com Add Ins select Go. Now make sure the Add In is ticked
-
5:05 - 5:09and then Okay.
-
5:09 - 5:17The Add In will now appear in the Ribbon as an Accessibility tab. If at any time the Save
-
5:17 - 5:21As DAISY Add in disappears from the Ribbon, just follow the same process.
-
5:21 - 5:26This is the Save As DAISY Add In for Word 2010. We’ll be covering some of the other
-
5:26 - 5:31features in the next tutorial so once you installed your own Save As DAISY Add please
