We've had a number of events that have taken
place across the country over the last number
-
of months and we're going to continue to do
those events.
-
It's an opportunity for our members to come
out on a monthly basis and show some solidarity
-
for our team members that are negotiating
at the bargaining table.
-
I think it's important, not only for the team
members - to show them that the members are
-
behind them and there is solidarity - but
I think also for everybody. To be able to
-
get together, to come together at least once
a month and show some solidarity and some
-
togetherness about the fight that we're in.
-
On March 19th we're having a fairly large
event. A couple of things have been organized,
-
so far. We'll be working with members of the
National Joint Council. Us: PSAC members.
-
Members from PIPSC, CAPE, and a number of
other unions that have signed on to the solidarity
-
pact.
-
It's a very strong message. We feel that strong,
healthy workplaces, are productive workplaces.
-
We want to get that message across to the
employer, and to Canadians. We feel strongly
-
about the ability of our members to come to
healthy workplaces - and to feel good about
-
doing that.
-
We've got a number of materials available.
We've been using placards such as these and
-
I think people have seen them. Strong Healthy
workplaces. We also have stickers, buttons,
-
pamphlets that we can hand out that explains
why healthy workplaces are important and why
-
we should all be involved.
-
So, to get involved, the information is on
our website - it's gone out in the newsletter
-
- but if there's an opportunity for you in
your worksite or your community and you want
-
to organize an event, get in touch with the
regional office, your regional rep, or your
-
regional mobilization coordinator, and we
can make those events happen in your area.
