0:01 - 0:05This is "like". This is "dislike".
-
0:08 - 0:16In the 6 years that Thailand's 3 Muslim provinces
have been under emergency decree -
0:17 - 0:24countless numbers of people have been affected by the unjust power and control from government officials
-
0:25 - 0:30Emergency decree isn't a good law
-
0:31 - 0:41Those who were arrested got tortured in order to confess
-
0:41 - 0:44That is not right
-
0:45 - 0:49Because when being tortured, those who couldn't stand the pain had to admit even though they didn't do anything
-
0:49 - 0:52That is not right
-
0:49 - 0:59If they really did wrong, there should be evidence and punishment accordingly
-
1:00 - 1:04Entering the 8th year of violence in the 3 Muslim provinces,
-
1:04 - 1:08many groups and civil society organizations have been established with the objective and determination to see peace once again
-
1:13 - 1:17As well as the Civil Society Network Against Emergency Decree
-
1:17 - 1:22that has been continuously campaigning against the decree with different activities from releasing statements
-
1:27 - 1:30and holding different campaigns like "kicking out" the decree with soccer or
-
1:31 - 1:33by driving classical cars and motorbikes,
-
1:34 - 1:38to organizing a people's forum against the decree.
-
1:48 - 1:51Recently, the activities have been brought up to the international level with the "Post Peace Campaign"
-
1:56 - 2:02which allows local people to express their opinions on this emergency decree on postcards
-
2:02 - 2:05as reflections of their feelings and make their voices heard among representatives of international organizations.
-
2:13 - 2:20Today, we're going to gather the voices of people who want to call for ending the emergency decree
-
2:24 - 2:38by writing short messages that we want to express to the United Nations on these postcards
-
2:39 - 2:43We'll send all of them to the U.N. Headquarters in Thailand on 10 December which is the Thai Constitution Day and also International Human Rights Day
-
2:50 - 2:52The campaign to express people's feelings on postcards
-
2:53 - 2:56has received good response from local people,
-
2:56 - 2:59especially those working in city area of Pattani which faced the effects of the decree more.
-
3:03 - 3:09I hope the situation will be normal soon so I can work more conveniently
-
3:10 - 3:19When going to pray or elsewhere in the early morning,
I don't need to worry that I'll be searched by the army or arrested for investigation -
3:19 - 3:24I think there must be a campaign against the emergency decree
-
3:26 - 3:30This emergency decree has been enforced for a long while
-
3:31 - 3:41and its enforcement has violated the basic rights of the local people
-
3:41 - 3:47We no longer agree with the emergency decree's enforcement in our areas
-
3:48 - 3:55If it's still necessary to use the emergency decree then there must be justice
-
3:56 - 3:58If there's no justice, then it should be repealed
-
4:01 - 4:06The movement of the Civil Society Network Against Emergency Decree doesn't only aim to have the decree repealed,
-
4:10 - 4:14but also to reduce the conditions that could lead to endless violence.
-
4:18 - 4:22Time has proven that the emergency decree couldn't reduce the number of incidents
-
4:22 - 4:26And it even creates hatred among the people who were affected by the unjust power and control of officers
-
4:30 - 4:36Therefore, should the New Years present that the current government of Ms. Yingluck Chinnawatra
-
4:39 - 4:46give to people who oppose the emergency decree in the 3 Muslim provinces on this coming 19 December be the repeal of the emergency decree?
-
4:52 - 4:53We oppose the emergency decree!
-
4:53 - 4:55We oppose the emergency decree!
-
4:56 - 4:58We oppose the emergency decree!
