Social Media Policy 55 million of Indonesia's population are using the Internet. 42.9 million are Facebook users and another 24.9 million are actively using Twitter. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of writing has been uploaded to the Internet daily from 3 million Indonesian bloggers. But many of these users still don't understand the privacy issues and threats on internet. People will easly upload their profile, photos, and share their private and sensitive information. So how do we secure information on internet? Here are some tips. First, always use HTTPS if possible. Use a secure network when you're online on Facebook, Twitter, and Gmail, it's easier and only needs checking an option. Second, protect yourself from suspicions instant messages. You can anticipate this by changing your messenger settings to more private or limiting persons you interact with. Third, use a temporary email to avoid spam. If you're still undecided about a particular site, you can use this trick when you are registering up until you get the email confirmation. Fourth, keep your security question secret. Using a strong password will be meaningless if you don't take care of this. You can create a better unique security question but one that you can still easily remember. Fifth, don't go easy with privacy policies. Take a good read when you're registering or when you're downloading the application. Usually we must accept certain policies offered by the company. Sixth, don't allow people track you down on Facebook. Set up your privacy setting on Facebook so that people can't stalk you. Seventh, don't activate the location sharing feature. Activating this feature not only makes your activities vulnerable to cyber criminals, but also provides tons of personal info for advertisement agencies. The last one, eigth, if necessary, disguise your personal data to minimize cyber criminals from abusing your bio data. Be wise when online... Think before posting!
