Up to the Mountain Top

Hi my name is Tatiana

And my name Ani Sari Wahyuni

We have many common hobbies

Travelling, drawing, culinary, and mountain climbing

This story is about one of our lovely trips to Mount Syawal

We invite you to join our journey

We arrived at the foot of the mountain in a pick-up car

And the nice driver and he only asked us to pay Rp. 2500 ($0.20) to get there

We rested at the foot, staying a while talking and drinking coffee

After we enjoyed the view of the mountain from there

We set up a tent, and stayed for the night

We set a bonfire, swam in the clean river

And didn't forget to take narcisstic selfies!

A little after 3pm, the driver came to pick us up

We met a lot of other passengers along the way

We entered the city and was welcomed by the pollution of election placards and spam messages from social media apps

We, as young people, also want to speak up

Can I compare the Presidential Elections with our experience with the driver from before?

Yes, yes, if the vehicle is a metaphor for the elections and the driver for the leader

And why do we need to go to the mountain? Because all leaders, they want people to praise them

The truth is that they all have to work for us

Feeling trapped in a social media war on the elections is like getting trapped in a garbage bin

At first, you smell the stench, but after a while you get used to it

And the worst thing is that you'll find it normal

Maybe I felt annoyed by all this but I now think I was wrong

We young people shouldn't be apathetic

We should dig into the backgrounds of these candidates, their families ties, their track record, and their aims and principles

And only after that, can we decide

So even if we abstained from voting, we have a clear opinion

Because youth should be critical and not just following blindly

For me, there will be no perfect candidate. But whoever wins this should be given

a space to do their best

The election is just a vehicle and the leader like the driver

who can send all of the citizens to their desired destination

But how can this driver send people if they don't know the address?

What address?

The address of welfare, justice, and prosperity

Yes, so a leader should have roots and wings
